  • Kehen Temple
    Kehen Temple is one of the most popular Bali Places of Interest, its enshrines three gods : Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva which is believed to have been built even before construction of the town and now lies at the outskirts of the city. The town itself is dominated by the royal houses spread around its main square. Kehen Temple is the royal ancestral temple of Bangli Kingdom, one of the eight most important royal houses on Bali. Literally meaning the temple of the hearth or the household, this refers to Hyang Api or the God of Fire, symbol of the Hindu god Brahma.
  • Besakih Temple
    Besakih Temple is one of the most popular Bali Places of Interest opened for tourist and it is the great place to visit during your holiay in Bali island. This Hindu temple known as Bali’s Mother Temple for over 1,000 years, sits 1,000 meters high on the southwestern slopes of Mount Agung. Besakih is an artistic and unique complex that comprises at least 86 temples which include the main Pura Penataran Agung (the Great Temple of State) and 18 others. Besakih is the biggest and holiest of the island temples and is surrounded by breathtaking and scenic rice paddies, hills, mountains, streams and more.

Many stairs lead up to the sacred mountain, leading to the many temples that vary according to types, status and functions. Besakih Temple features three temples dedicated to the Hindu trinity. Pura Penataran Agung in the centre has white banners for Shiva, the destroyer : Pura Kiduling Kreteg on the right side is with red banners for Brahma, the creator and Pura Batu Madeg represents Vishnu, the preserver, with its black banners.

    Tirta Empul Temple is one of the most famous Bali Places of Interest and a beautiful temple complex with holy mountain spring located in the village of Manukaya in central Bali. The site serves as a legendary setting of a traditional tale about good versus evil, its also a national cultural heritage site. The complex built in 960 AD is also a silent witness to the old Balinese kingdom years, particularly at the time of the Warmadewa Dynasty. Another nearby and prominent site on top of a hill is the presidential palace, Istana Tampaksiring, built during the years of the nation first president SoekarnoTirta Empul Temple meaning holy water spring is actually the name of a water source located within the temple. The spring feeds various purification baths, pools and fish ponds surrounding the outer perimeter, which all flow to the Tukad Pakerisan River. Various sites throughout the region and many other archaeological relics relate to local myths and legends. As is common with Balinese temples, the Tirta Empul Temple complex has three key divisions, namely a front, secondary and inner courtyard.
  • Gunung Kawi Temple
    Gunung Kawi Temple is one of the most famous Bali Places of Interest in order to get to this archaeological site, we need to walk down to the valley on a couple hundreds step. There are some shops along the way selling typical tourist stuff although they also sell some unique handicrafts like coconut shell carving and bone carving. Bone carvings are indeed available all over Bali but its originally from this village. Some of talented carver specializing in carving the bone or even ivory are coming from this area. As you walk further down, your eyes will started to be pleased by the beautiful view of the valley.
    Rice terraces under the shadow of coconut tress located in both side of Pakerisan river. Rather wide and not distracted view of the rice terrace, you can see as you getting closer to the site. Do make a stop and snap the view with your camera before you walk on the steps between the wall of cut-ed rock. As you reach the bottom of the steps you will be greeted with a gate cut-ed from the same rock as the gate.
  • Goa Gajah Temple
    Goa Gajah Temple is one of the most popular Bali Places of Interest, its an archaeological site of significant historical value that makes it a special place to visit. Located on the cool western edge of Bedulu Village, six kilometers out of central Ubud, you do not need more than an hour to descend to its relic filled courtyard and view the rock-wall carvings, a central meditation cave, bathing pools and fountains. The temple name is slightly misleading, lending the impression that its a gigantic dwelling full of elephants.Goa Gajah Temple dates back to the 11th century, built as a spiritual place for meditation. The main grounds are down a flight of steps from the roadside and parking area, which is lined with various art and souvenir shops and refreshment kiosks. Upon reaching the base you will come across a large wantilan or meeting hall and an assortment of large old stone carvings, some restored to their former full glory.
